Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
We place equal emphasis on values, Learning to Learn Skills and academic excellence and developed the trinity as a visual reminder of this. This is displayed around school and referred to by children and staff.
Each value is taught discretely once a half term; through R.E, collective worship and PSHE. Children are rewarded for displaying the values with a marble which is added to the class jar. When the jar is full the class choose a treat (these have been a class picnic, a film afternoon or a pyjama day!) Children nominate their peers in the values book weekly to be celebrated in Friday collective worship for displaying the values. The names of the nominated children are added to the Abraham display.
Learning to Learn
Teachers plan discrete lessons to teach learning skills. These skills are then applied through the curriculum. Children are assessed for learning skills on a tracker and this is reported to parents at parent consultations and on the end of year report. Children are rewarded with a sticker for using learning skills. A postcard is sent home when children have ten stickers in an area and a certificate is awarded in celebration service.
Our children strive to produce the very best work they can and be the very best that they can be. They are acknowledged for this on a daily basis, but particularly celebrated in sharing service on a Friday if they have been spotted going the extra mile.
