    Context and Rationale - Prejudice Related Incidents

    The last racist incident was 2018. However, we have noticed that children are careless with their language and can use discriminatory terms without fully understanding the implication or severity of this.

    Deliver a staff meeting about PCs and how Jigsaw is used to introduce the idea to children

    Regularly revisit the topics covered in anti-bullying week through display and discussion

    Plan and deliver ‘Respect’ week which will focus on hidden disabilities and the prejudice surrounding this

    Deliver training to staff about using CPOMS to report and record discriminatory behaviour

    Review all actions put in place so far by carrying pupil and staff voice surveys 

    •             Staff use age appropriate language to talk to children about diversity and protected characteristics

    •             Children know what discrimination, racism and prejudice are and what to do about it

    •             Staff know how to talk to children about any discriminatory behaviour and where to record and report it
    Summer 2023

    Book and author or speaker for Pride month

    Send out a letter and information to parents about Pride month, publicising the theme ‘proud to be me’
    • Staff & governors more fully understand the Equality Duty and the school’s responsibility.
    • Children understand are able to explain meaning of equality
