All of our twelve children in year 6 were able to swim the minimum 25m requirement at the end of their block of lessons last year. They all used a range of strokes effectively and could perform self-rescue in a range of water based situations.
Many of those children also have swimming lessons outside of school and have a number of impressive achievements through this:
Seven children have swam over 300m
Three children have swam a mile or more
One child has swum 3000m
Two children have taken part in competitive triathlons and one in a competitive pentathlon
Two children have had lifesavers training
There were 16 children in year 6 in 2017/18. Of these 14 were able to swim over 25m, and use a range of strokes effectively. 14 out of the 16 children could also perform self-rescue in different water-based situations.
