  • Christmas Fayre - One more sleep!

    Thu 07 Dec 2023

We do hope you will come and support this Christmas Fayre which is set to be a really fun family event. There are lots of wonderful stalls selling food, drink and gifts plus games and second hand stalls.

Please bring plenty of change and cash as not all stalls will take bank cards.

The money we raise through these events is greatly appreciate and has a positive impact on your children's education. We have used the to subsidise trips and experiences and have recently purchased 15 new I-Pads.

  • Communication with Teachers

    Wed 06 Dec 2023

We pride ourselves on the positive relationships we have with parents and the benefits to children this brings. We welcome  conversations with you about your children and, in turn, hope that you appreciate the level of feedback you receive. Much of this is ad hoc when you collect your children or attend school events. However, when longer conversations are needed  phone calls and pre planned meetings are sometimes also necessary.

Since Covid it has been the norm to communicate via email. This can be really useful for passing on messages to teachers when you are unable to get to school to talk to them. However, these should not replace a conversation.

Teaching staff are finding it increasingly difficult to manage the amount of emails they are receiving from parents and the expectation of an instant and detailed response. A teachers day, on average, begins at 8.00am, if not before so that they can set up the learning for the day, their priority between 8.40 and 3.20 is your children and after children have gone home,  they are marking, planning and preparing for the following day. There is little time for reading and responding to emails.

I am asking staff not to enter into conversations via email and as this distracts from their priority of teaching children. You must therefore be aware, that you may have a delayed response to any emails sent and will not receive the level of detail you have become used to. I am certain you would support this as staff wellbeing ensures the wellbeing of your children.

Please refer to the Communications Flow Chart to check you are emailing the right person ( for example - absences, illness lateness etc need to be sent the office only). Contact Details | Langar C of E Primary School

  • Parent/ Teacher Meetings

    Wed 06 Dec 2023

Following the receipt of you child's snapshot report on Monday 11th December,  you are invited to book a parent/ teacher meeting.  This conversation will be a ten minute appointment; providing an opportunity for your child’s teacher to discuss academic strengths and gaps in their learning, what you can do to help them, the way in which they uphold the school values and utilise learning skills.

These meetings will take place via Zoom.

Your child will bring a slip home in their bag tonight outlining the available times across the week. Please tick the date you would like an appointment. If you need a precise time, write that in the box and we will do our best to accommodate you.  Return the slip asap. Your child's teacher will then send you an appointment time by filling in the reverse of the slip and sending it back to you.

    A few points to note:

A Zoom link will be sent out in an email at the start of that week – click the link to join the meeting.

Join the meeting five minutes before your allocated time slot where you will be held in the waiting room.

Ensure the name displayed is your child’s name (names the teacher does not recognise will not be let into the meeting).

If two parents wish to access the meeting but will not be using the same device, please ensure both parents display the child's name so that you can both be let into the meeting.

Meetings will be a prompt ten minutes long and will be ended by the teacher even if they are not finished.

Should you have a matter that needs discussing that you know will take longer than ten minutes, please arrange your meeting for another time.
