We were delighted to welcome Beth, Dave, Mel and Hudson to school on Tuesday. As part of class 1's topic - All About Me - visitors have been invited in to talk about how they contribute to helping people look after their bodies.
Beth, an optometrist talked about her job and gave the children an opportunity to test their eye-sight with a variety of fun activities. The children loved trying the 3D glasses and seeing which spectacles suited them best!
Dave and Mel brought Hudson the guide dog in to show the children how he helps her to get out and about. He has been trained to catch the bus and get off at the right stop, cross the road and avoid hazards and unexpected obstacles. The children were amazed by how clever he was and staff were astounded by the hours of training that had gone in to the two years of preparation to become a guide dog.
We really appreciated them all taking the time to come and see us and the information they brought. Class 1 were so inspired that they are making the role play area into an opticians
