Our children had a visit from a very local industry yesterday - Tarmac, who sent Niki and Tim to talk to the children about the variety of job roles on offer there. We were fascinated to find out that 75 people are employed at the local plant but that nearly 80,000 work for CRH, their parent company all over the world.
The children heard about how cement is made - from the gathering of shale and limestone at the quarry to bagging it up at the local plant. Harrison got to try on some of the safety wear that employees have to wear before Niki and Tim went into classes to do workshops.
