Some of you received an email from us this week, checking in on the wellbeing of your children as we’d not received an email from you for a week or more and they hadn’t engaged in online learning. I wish to clarify the purpose of this as we are all inclined, at times, to feel questioned and judged.
We care about your children and we care about the families of our children.
When in school we have expert and wonderfully caring staff who notice subtle changes in your children that tell us about their mental health, personal experiences, family situations and wellbeing. We ask children throughout the day how they are, we nurture them, care for them and put things in place to support emotional resilience. You, our fabulous parents, talk to us, cry with us, share your frustrations with us and keep us in the picture so we can support you and, in turn, your children.
We do not have these tools right now, but know that more than ever you and your children may be struggling. We are passing no judgement and are here to help and guide you through this time of educating at home.
So if you receive a wellbeing email next week, think how lucky you are. You belong to a school community that cares deeply about the children and families in it, and puts the happiness, resilience and personal skills of your child at the heart of what we do so that they can achieve to the best of their ability without barriers and hurdles in their way.
Keep going with your home learning - whatever it looks like. We would love to hear from you and share the journey.
