Langar Church of England Primary School

Mrs Browns’ Holiday House Challenge

Our four house groups are named after incredible men and women who did all sorts of things to make the world a better place. Over the course of the past two terms we have learned more about Corrie Ten Boom, George Cadbury, Catherine Booth and William Wilberforce during our Friday assemblies, as well as others such as Florence Nightingale and Harriet Tubman. These inspirational people were inspired by their faith and their desire to live in the way that Jesus taught.

If you would like to find out more about them then please follow this link and click each of the values - Values | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)

There are many people in the modern world who are trying to make a difference today. In collective worship today we talked about three of these – Max Woosey who, at 10 years old, has slept in a tent in his garden for a whole year to raise money for his local hospice, Marcus Rashford who has fought and campaigned for fairness for all children and ensured Free School meal children were provided for during the school holidays throughout lockdown and Captain Sir Tom Moore who raised money for the NHS by walking laps of his garden.

But making a difference isn’t always about raising money. Over the Easter holidays, I would like the children to think about someone inspirational. Someone who makes a difference in the world today.  They then need to research this person and present their findings to hand in after the holiday. These will be submitted to the house captains who will then create posters to add to the house displays in the hall.

I do hope all children will take part.
