Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As outlined on the newsletter, we have reviewed and renewed our long term and medium term curriculum plans. This has been a huge amount of work for a small school where subject leaders lead up to five subjects each! We are really pleased to be able to share these plans with you so that you know what your children are learning about in each subject.
Take a look at our long term plan and then dive into each subject area by clicking the links below to get a full picture of what your child will be learning this term.

One of the wonderful things about our school is the way in which our children work with us to support the smooth running of the school. Every year children apply for roles of responsibility that they feel suit their personal skills set.
Please have a look at the role list with your child and then support them in putting together an application if they would like to apply for a position.

This afternoon we had all of years 1 to 6 in the hall, planning and preparing prayers and class crosses for collective worship. It is always so heartwarming to see our children in the house groups; supporting each other and working together. As always, their behaviour was exemplary and older children set a wonderful example to the younger children in our school.
The children have been reintroduced to the parts of collective worship this week and considered the overarching theme of the wisdom that can be found in the Bible.
A huge thank you to you all for your understanding and support for our new morning gate arrangements. We feel so much better knowing that children are only on site once they are in our care and under our supervision. I do know this has meant altering your morning routines, but with the classroom doors remaining open for a ten minute window, and the registers not been taken until 8.50am children do not need to be at school any earlier than 8.40am to be here in good time.
We are also grateful to the Early Years Learning Alliance who, with their strict safeguarding arrangements, have welcomed this change. We are supporting them, and them us, to ensure all children on our site are secure and well cared for. Their video buzzer on the gate is useful in ensuring they are only allowing familiar adults onto the site during their open hours.
However, we have had a small number of parents over the past three days, taking advantage of this system. A family followed a preschool parent into the playground as they had missed the 8.50am cut off for drop off, and came in late through classroom doors. This is unacceptable. Children arriving late must be brought to the office by parent so that they can be signed in and and a reason provided for their lateness. This was not an isolated incident and a parent followed a preschool parent onto the site today to access class 1. Entry to school when the gates are closed must be via the office.
Preschool staff are asking parents to come in one family at a time and to close the gate between and buzz again. This ensures only permitted adults are on site. We would ask you to support this.
Delivering these messages is never easy. However, safeguarding cannot be taken lightly and we must take an attitude of 'it could happen here'.
Mrs Pearce is very much looking forward to working with our children at Singing Club again which starts next Wednesday.
If your child loves to sing, needs a confidence boost or wants to learn to sing with the correct technique (and have a lot of fun) then Singing Club is the place!
Please book online: www.rattleandrollperformance.com and use the class code SILANG1.
Class 4 are having a launch day for their topic today. They are taking part in workshops and activities that will give them an insight and understanding of life during World War 2.
This workshop would not be possible without the wonderful fundraising efforts that you supported last year. It has been fully paid for out of school fund, with no cost to parents.
Class 4 | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back on Monday morning! I will send a letter out on Monday with a few updates and reminders for the term ahead.
Following a review of our safeguarding processes, we acknowledged a vulnerability when gates open at 8.30am and the site is accessible without a member of staff on gate duty. As we have a 'soft start' to the day, with classroom doors opening from 8.40am until 8.50am, we will be opening the gate to the playground at this time too.
So that teachers can settle children who are coming into class, and begin the teaching day, Mrs George, Mrs Petchell and Mrs Brown will be on the playground (with notebooks!) to take down any messages that need passing on and to welcome children into school. Should you wish to speak to the class teacher, either pass the message on for them to ring you at their convenience, email them or see them at the end of the day.
