  • Greetings from Nyofella

    Fri 19 Jul 2019

It was wonderful to receive an email from Mori, the head teacher of Nyofella School, this morning. We will continue our friendship with them next year and will share their news with you.

    Hello

Morri Nyassi the head teacher saying hello to you and all the staff at Langar school.

We were very busy preparing our children for the national exams which was done on 26th and 27 the June. The results are use by the ministry of Education here to know how the teachers ate performing in their schools.  Thanks it was successfully done and we hope our children's results will be satisfactory.

Our children also went on an educational field trip to the country side to see for themselves what is been learnt in the classroom. Do your children do the same?

We are going to close school for the summer on July 19th here in The Gambia. How about you?

Best wishes. Some pictures of our school children on the trip.....

  • Tonight's Performance of Matilda

    Thu 18 Jul 2019

We have been astounded by the demand for tickets for the performances of Matilda. We have over 100 people attending each night. We are really looking forward to the performance tonight, as are your children who have worked hard on it.

Although every member of the cast plays an important part, please be mindful that for year 6 parents this is the last time their children will preform on our stage. In the spirit of fairness, we ask that consideration is given to this when choosing where to sit, and that parents of year 6 children are given priority to sit on the first two rows.

The play is about 1 hour and 40 minutes long so will finish at 7.40. If you are collecting your children having not been to watch, please ensure their prompt collection. They will exit via usual routes as at home time.

  • Respect Yourself Week. - BIkeability

    Tue 16 Jul 2019
Year 6 completed the first part of Bikeability training yesterday and are continuing it today, giving them a new respect for the road. Children were trained how to ride safely first on the playground before being taken out on the road. The children were praised for their listening skills Andy ability to follow instructions.
  • Respect Yourself Week - Class 3

    Tue 16 Jul 2019
Class 3 had input from Ms Saxton yesterday who led a session on meditation and using clay for relaxation and mindfulness. After following a visualisation where they climbed a mountain and met an old man who gave them a gift,  the children were asked to create the gift they had received using clay. The session was enjoyed by all, and the children felt the techniques they had learned would help them in the future when they needed to calm their minds.
  • Class 1 - Bee Keeping Masterclass

    Tue 16 Jul 2019
Class 1 were delighted to welcome a more friendly visitor in the afternoon yesterday! Mrs Paine and Cecily gave a fascinating talk about bee keeping; sharing information about how honey is made and harvested and showing some honeycomb. The children had lots of questions for them and loved seeing Cecily in her bee-keeping outfit.
  • Tiger on the Loose!

    Tue 16 Jul 2019

You may have heard that a tiger escaped from West Midlands Safari Park yesterday! After a long and arduous journey the tiger arrived at Langar School famished and asked class 1 if he could stay for tea!

Class 1 had a wonderful time making sandwiches to share with the tiger - who was very friendly - and having a tea party. After drinking all the tea in the tea pot and all the water in the taps, the tiger headed off. He was last spotted in Bingham Market. Shoppers beware!

  • First Aid Workshops

    Fri 12 Jul 2019

The children have thoroughly enjoyed first aid workshops today led by Darren from St John's Ambulance. The sessions were hands on, active and fun whilst teaching the children a range of skills for life. This has launched a week of enriching activities under the heading Respect Yourself during which children will learn a variety of skills in order to look after their minds and bodies.
