  • Year 6 Revision Books

    Wed 31 Jan 2024

Learning throughout primary school is a journey and we carefully design our curriculum here to ensure children build on their knowledge and skills each year. We assess children regularly to check understanding and adapt planning to correct misconceptions and fill gaps in learning.

At the end of each key stage, children are assessed and a summary made about their attainment against other children of the same age in the country. These tests measure knowledge and understanding in the core subjects; reading, writing, maths, grammar/punctuation and spelling. This year SATS take place week beginning 8th May.

We continue our rounded and broad curriculum in year 6 and, although we prepare children with test techniques, do not prime or boost them for the tests they will undertake. However, some of the content in the test is from years 3, 4 and 5 and so we do support them to do revision of topics that will be covered.

You can help them with this. We have CGP revision guides and work books for them to do as homework. The revision guides will be on loan to you but the workbooks are for your children to keep. Therefore, we ask for a contribution of £5 for them. This is payable via Squid.

  • Children's Mental Health Week 5th – 9th February 2024

    Wed 31 Jan 2024

My Voice Matters is about empowering young people to use their voices, share what matters to them, and encourage those around them to hear their voices.

On Monday, 5th February 2024 all children, in PSHE time, will be talking about what matters to them and how they actually can use their voice.  Children who feel that their voices are heard makes a difference, they have higher levels of self-efficacy and self-esteem.

On Thursday, 8th February 2024 Mrs George and three Year 5 children will be attending the NottAlone event in Newark where all schools from Nottinghamshire City Council and Nottingham County Council are coming together to share ideas, information and practice to support children and young people’s wellbeing.  There will be workshops and speakers which is also hosted by the Nottingham City Mental Health Support Team.

To celebrate the week all children at school are asked to wear whatever they wish to wear to school on Friday 9th February 2024 so that they can “express themselves”.

  • Home/School Agreement

    Fri 26 Jan 2024

Just a little reminder that your children have the Home School Agreement in their bags for you to read, sign and return this weekend. This is a vital document that cements the partnership we work in for the effective education of your children.

Teachers have read through and explained these to your children today who have signed to demonstrate their commitment to it.

Please read the Aspire Parent Conduct Policy which sits behind this document ST. PETER’S CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL EAST BRIDGFORD (primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com)

  • Celebration Worship

    Fri 26 Jan 2024

We have enjoyed a lovely celebration this morning where children were recognised for their hard work in class, being shining examples of upholding the values, Times Table Rock star band battles, Lexia accomplishments and more.

Ten Boom are currently our leader on the house points board with 5430 points!

Next week is Awards and Achievements Assembly, and we would love you to join us.

  • Laptops

    Thu 25 Jan 2024

As you know, for the past few years our fundraising has gone towards buying a class set of I-Pads and laptops. We are so grateful for all your contributions to this, either through your involvement with The Friends, who have put on some brilliant social events, or your attendance and financial support at them.

We bought the laptops and I-Pads just before Christmas and now have them set up and being used in classes. Feedback from the children has been enthusiastic. They are much faster and reliable than the old ones, and have some cool features such as  a second mouse (via a red button in the middle of the keyboard) and a light up keyboard!

Unfortunately, two of our laptops have been broken by children today. This was intentional, as the second mouse has been picked out and removed. Staff and children are really upset by this, as I am sure you are, knowing they cost £400 each and the effort that went into raising the money.

I am reaching out to ask you to work with us to emphasise the respect and care needed by children when working with these expensive devices. It seems a good opportunity to remind the children of the Home/School Agreement and the responsibility they must take for their behaviour in school and how that affects others.

Staff and children will be talking through this agreement tomorrow and it will be sent out for you to read and sign over the weekend. Please return them on Monday to demonstrate your commitment too.

  • Maths on Show!

    Thu 25 Jan 2024

Our school has, once again, been used a beacon of good practice for the mastery approach we use to teach maths!

In his role as Primary Maths Tutor for Nottinghamshire Torch SCITT, Mr Owen-Jones regularly delivers training to student teachers. This time he wanted to allow them to see the approach he has talked about in action and to show how it works in reception, all the way through to year 6.

The student teachers gave really positive feedback about the day and praised children and staff for the warm welcome and insight into best practice we gave them.

  • Parking Problem

    Wed 24 Jan 2024

We have received a complaint about dangerous parking. Some of the parking mentioned is inconsiderate, and some is illegal.

Your careless parking puts the lives of the children in our care in danger. Please think of every child as you would your own when choosing where to park around school.

We are fortunate to have available parking outside church and at The Unicorn. Please utilise these car parks and avoid parking on corners, opposite the white lines and across driveways.

Should this issue persist, we will take direct action by publishing the details of the cars that have parked in this way on the website.

  • Teaching and Learning Monitoring

    Wed 24 Jan 2024

We had wonderful feedback from parents following Connect and Reflect about the progress seen in children's books from the start of the year. We wanted to formally capture this.

This week, Mrs Richardson and Mrs Brown did a monitoring activity of the quality of teaching and learning across school. This is normal practice in schools. We use a framework which identifies the fundamental features of quality teaching and talk to children, observe lessons and look at children's books for evidence.

We were delighted by what we saw and in particular the  impact of the positive and restorative approach we have taken to behaviour.

All classes had a clear and structured routine which settled children quickly and created a positive atmosphere for learning. Behaviour was exemplary in all classes. The quality of work and teacher's expectations were high with a good level of support being given to children who needed it.

Children were engaged in learning, answering questions with enthusiasm, working through their mistakes and taking pride in presentation and completion of tasks.

I have attached some work from each class as the progress and the learning journey they take from class 1 to 4 is incredible and thanks to the skill and commitment of our staff.
