Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have always enhanced our curriculum with trips and experiences for your children. Over the past few years the cost of travel to these has risen greatly and we are thinking about ways that we can maintain these enhancements whilst keeping costs manageable for you.
An example of the price of travel is our class 3 trip to Walesby. Although this is under 30 miles the total cost of the coach is £610. With our small cohorts these costs are even higher as the total cost of the coach is shared between as few as 22 children. With some of our families having two children in one class, these requests for payment can be burdensome.
For the time being we will continue with our residential trips for children in years 3,4, 5 and 6. These have such an impact on children and the skills they acquire by being away from home are difficult to replicate. We will be reviewing these trips at some point though, as some parents are paying out for these for six years running if their children are two school years apart and longer if they have more than two children! At around £300 each trip this is not be taken lightly.
To lessen the cost of curriculum trips, whilst maintaining the high quality learning experience, we are going to be sourcing more outside providers and visiting companies to bring experiences to school. As with a trip, we will have to charge for these but they will be considerably less than if we were going out of school.
The first of these experiences is our Diwali Dance and Celebration Day on Thursday 9th November. This will cost £4 per child and is payable via Squid. This will be a fabulous day of learning for your children and will give them experiences we couldn’t provide ourselves and we are really looking forward to it.
It was lovely to have so many parents in school this morning to hear about the wide range of activities that children take part in outside of school. We heard about football, golf, ski-ing, running, tennis, gymnastics, dance, farming, reading, Brownies, music and swimming.
The children explained so articulately their achievements and what they had had to do to get their awards.
Just to note - Christmas dinner will be on Tuesday 19th December. More details to follow.
We had our first celebration worship today with our newly installed House Captains. They spoke beautifully and articulately about why they had chosen the children to give recognition to for upholding the values.

We also drew our weekly raffle tickets which are awarded for children going above and beyond when upholding our values. This includes a draw for children who attend out of school club.
We have Chicken Pox in school. Please be vigilant.
This information is form the NHS website:
Chickenpox is common and mostly affects children, but you can get it at any age. It usually gets better by itself after 1 to 2 weeks without needing to see a GP.
An itchy, spotty rash is the main symptom of chickenpox. It can be anywhere on the body.
Chickenpox happens in 3 stages. But new spots can appear while others are becoming blisters or forming a scab.
The spots can:

The spots fill with fluid and become blisters. The blisters are very itchy and may burst.
The spots form a scab. Some scabs are flaky while others leak fluid.
Before or after the rash appears, you might also get:
Chickenpox is very itchy and can make children feel miserable, even if they do not have many spots.
The chickenpox spots look the same on children and adults. But adults usually have a high temperature for longer and more spots than children.
It's possible to get chickenpox more than once, but it's unusual.
You'll need to stay away from school, nursery or work until all the spots have formed a scab. This is usually 5 days after the spots appeared.
NCC are running some parent workshops. Please see the fliers for details.
