Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have had a very special start to Lent here at school, with pancake celebrations yesterday and an Ash Wednesday service this morning.
Mrs Turner led a collective worship yesterday reflecting on the origins of Shrove Tuesday and linking the ingredients needed for the perfect pancake to the ingredients needed for a perfect life. In the afternoon classes 1 and 4 continued their celebrations tying out different toppings for pancakes and enjoying the treats they had created.
This morning Mrs Brown led worship accompanied by Rev. Rachel who came in to ash us. The children reflected on the creation of God's wonderful world and about the sin of human-beings who are causing pollution and destruction. They have been set 24 small challenges to complete during Lent to make a positive contribution to the world. We do hope you will support them in this mission.
It is with deep regret that I have to raise this topic once more. As previously outlined earlier in the half term, the safety and well-being of our children, families, staff and local residents is at the heart of actions and decisions undertaken here, and is captured in our school values of love, thoughtfulness, respect, fairness and take care. It is upsetting when other stakeholders do not abide by these values.
Over the course of the year I have received numerous complaints about the parking around school, from parents and local residents. One of these incidents meant that an ambulance could not pass and attend a patient in Belvoir Crescent, and several of these incidents have put children's lives at risk.
Today I have received a photograph of a car blocking the driveway of one of our neighbours and a friend of the school.
I appeal to your sound judgement and high moral standing - please, utilise the car parks that we have in Langar; at The Unicorn's Head and outside of church, abide by the Highway Code (parking away from junctions and not on zigzag lines) and do not put the lives of others at risk for the sake of getting into school at 8.40am.
We are going to be marking and celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March with lots of activities and experiences. The theme of the day is 'share a story' and children will be invited to wear pyjamas to school and bringing a favourite book to share.
Over the half term holiday we want to encourage children to share a story with their family and friends. Please capture these moments in a photo and send it in to school by Friday 28th February. A prize will given to each year group for the most original location shown in the photo!
We look forward to hearing about your reading adventures.

We are planning a 'grown up' week starting on Monday 9th March. It will be focussed on aspirations and we are hoping to get local businesses, employees or business owners in to give talks about jobs, training and industry as well as possibly organising/ leading some activities linked to their place of work.
Is this something you would like to do? Could you inspire the workforce of the future?
If you feel you could provide us with any of the above please email the office - office@langar.notts.sch.uk, outlining your job role and what you would be prepared to come into school to do.
We will soon be holding the second of our Friends of Langar Primary School events which is set to be a Family Quiz Night. This will be a truly fun evening with refreshments on sale, prizes to be won and games to be played, all at no cost for entry.
To ensure we adhere to health and safety regulations places will be limited,so return your slips to reserve your places, stating the name of your child and the adults and children that will be accompanying them.
We would be grateful of your help. Please get in touch with the school office if you could help on the night, setting up the tables and chairs, and/ or serving and selling refreshments.
Letters will be sent out with children tomorrow!
Thank you for your support and feedback to date. We are attempting to apply for funding to provide the equipment, unfortunately the deadline is the end of February!
As your comments provide us with the crucial evidence of need for the funding applications, we would really appreciate it if you could email your comments and feedback to the Parish Clerk at langarbarnstoneclerk@gmail.com as soon as possible.
This week is Internet Safety Week. The children have been thinking about how to enjoy the internet and social technology, whilst understanding the risks that go with that and have been exploring ways in which they can alleviate those risks.
Mr Owen-Jones has provided information and activities for you to further this learning at home. You will find them in the curriculum pages of the website under - Computing.
