Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have really ended the half term on a high! The Royal Variety Performance was such a treat this morning and we were joined by children from Naseby and Old Dalby Schools for the singing of The National Anthem and The Platinum Jubilee Song.
The Queen was enthralled by the children's performances. We hope you enjoy them as much as she did. They are in backwards order on the playlist.
The Royal Variety Performance | Langar C of E Primary School (primarysite.media)
This afternoon we have had a street party with the whole school enjoying afternoon tea and games in the sunshine.
The children have been asking if they can wear non-school uniform for tomorrow's celebrations. We invite them to wear red, white and/or blue if they would like to.
If children are performing, they are welcome to come in their outfits in readiness to perform at 9.30.
The performances will be recorded and shared on the website for you all to enjoy. If your child does not have permission for this we will not put them on it. However, if you are happy for them to appear on the website for this special occasion then please email to let me know.
After receiving responses from several of you about the table top sale, it seems my initial suspicions were correct; that it will be ill attended due to families going away on Friday evening.
I have therefore decided to postpone it until Friday 10th July (third time lucky)! We will run it at the planned time - setting up from 1.30, parents entering from 2.00pm and then finishing at 4.00pm.
If the new date means you would like to book a table, please do so via SQuid.
It has been really exciting to be able to organise events this year and have parents and families on site once more. The table top sale, due to take place on Friday, was one that staff felt would be popular. Unfortunately, we have had a pretty poor uptake. However, I have been made aware that a large number of families are going away on Friday and therefore will not be around.
I am happy to go ahead for the three families who have booked tables, but do worry that there will also be very little custom if families are rushing off at the end of the day.
Please email office@langar.notts.sch.uk if you would book a table should we postpone the sale until Friday 10th June. If this has better uptake we will move the date. If the event just lacks interest, we will go ahead with it this Friday.
Royal Variety Performance
On Thursday and Friday of this week, auditions will be taking place to find our twelve acts for the Langar Royal Variety performance. Please ensure your children are prepared for this if they want to take part, and bring in any costumes or props that they need to do their audition.
Table Top Sale
We currently only have two tables booked for the table top sale. These are booked via SQuid at a cost of £5 each. If we do not get at least ten tables booked, we will cancel this event.
Trips
We have some really exciting trips planned this term. Class 2 are going to Yorkshire Wildlife Park on 9th June and class 3 are on residential to Walesby Forest from 7th to 8th June. Please ensure you pay for these via SQuid.
Mrs Petchell is going to be running a one day cooking course for children in years 4,5,6, and 7 on Monday 30th May. The cost of £30 will include all the ingredients needed for the children to make afternoon tea to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Places are limited, so contact her as soon as possible if you would like to book a place for your child.
Class 3 have designed the activities for Sports Afternoon today. The activities are non-competitive and the children can complete as many or as few of them as they wish.
Please enter the school site via the main front gate at the time your child/children are taking part. Refreshments will be served from the outdoor classroom. Please be very careful when moving around carrying hot drinks.
We look forward to seeing you later. Key Stage 1 Sports Afternoon from 1pm until 2pm, and Key Stage 2 from 2pm until 3pm. You are welcome to take your children home once their events have finished.
Last week the children signed up for the sports or activities they wanted to take part in and they are now having a fantastic week competing for their houses.
Class 4 came up with a range of ideas for these competitive tasks. To ensure inclusivity and allow every child to play to their strengths, there have been a wide range of activities and sports to take part in. These have included:
Tiddlywinks, Connect 4, Uno, Top Trumps, Times Table Rock Stars, Chess, Quoits, Golf, Pick up pasta challenge (tweezers), Skipping, Basket Ball Hoops, Hula Hooping and Penalty Shoot Out. Egg and Spoon Race, Javelin, Short distance Running Race, Shot Put, Three Legged, Long distance running race, Relay, Long Jump and Bean bag race!
The atmosphere is buzzing and the children are highly competitive, with Wilberforce, Ten Boom and Booth hoping to knock Cadbury from the current top spot.
We look forward to welcoming you tomorrow afternoon for the non-competitive part of the week when a fun time will had by all. Don't forget cash for refreshments.
I am grateful to my one parent volunteer who has offered to help me serve refreshments, but would really appreciate a few more. If you are able to help, please drop me an email - head@langar.notts.sch.uk
