  • Summer Online Safety

    Wed 26 Jul 2023

Children may spend time online this summer, especially if the weather is bad. Please be aware of the dangers and pitfalls of this.

Have a look at the poster for clear information, hints and tips.

  • Extra Curricular

    Tue 25 Jul 2023

Our extra curricular provision here has always been wide and varied which was recognised and praised by OFSTED. In his new role as fulltime TA, Mr Hall will no longer have the capacity to run the number of clubs he does currently. I know this will be missed.

However, we are going to enhance our extra curricular provision with Rattle and Roll who will be providing a dodgeball club as well as On the Stage, which is a performing arts club. Information about these are in the letters section of the website. Letters | Langar C of E Primary School

Instrumental lessons, Forest Bugs, French Club and tennis will all resume in September too.

If your children would like to attend Spot On Cooking, Crafts and Sport Club over the holiday on 2nd, 15th and/or 16th August, please get in touch with Mrs Petchell to book their place.

  • End of Year

    Tue 25 Jul 2023

We are just getting ready to bid farewell to year 6 at the Leaver's Service and are looking forward to welcoming their families to reflect and celebrate with us. After school, they will all stay for a picnic on the field to mark the end of an era.

We have a few children moving on from other year groups too, who we wish the very best of luck at their new schools.

We have had a busy, full and successful year here which has seen our children flourish. This is testament to the dedication and hard work of our wonderful staff team. I am so proud of each and every one of them who, following a difficult and soul destroying OFSTED inspection this time last year, picked themselves up, took on new ideas, initiatives and approaches and embedded our already good practice. This is no mean feat as I am sure you have read about in articles in the press.

Our commitment, implementation and impact was recognised in our inspection in March and this must be recognised and celebrated.

We are excited to be planning the year ahead, which will see further developments and improvements to our curriculum, approaches to behaviour and conduct and provision for children who struggle to access the curriculum and those with Special Educational Needs. Governors will also be improving their visibility to parents and having regular communication with you about the role they undertake in school and we will become part of Aspire Trust early in the academic year.

Alongside all of this work, Mrs Richardson will begin her role as Assistant Headteacher. I am thrilled that the leadership of the school will be secured and enhanced by this. She must be congratulated for this.

Staff will take part in two training/ INSET days on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th September and we look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Wednesday 6th. The calendar of dates is on the website:  Calendar | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)

Have a safe and happy summer. I hope you get some rest and relaxation with your families.

  • What a Week!

    Thu 13 Jul 2023

What a wonderfully busy week we have had here.

The concert and open afternoon on Monday was a huge success with a mixture of tears and smiles in the audience. Mr Swallow our Chair of Governors reported,

There were performances from all the classes, as well as lots of children who have taken an interest in music and are now starting to play instruments, as well as some undoubted stars who have been performing over the years.

What was noticeable was that all children came up to perform with very little obvious sign of nerves or anxiety about playing. The school has clearly created an environment where all who want to are confident of stepping up and performing in front of an audience of approximately 35 parents/carers and/or other family members.

Children seemed proud to show what they could do and gladly took their bow or applause after completing their piece.

What was particularly impressive, and quite emotional for some in the audience, was the participation of many of the children in our school community who have additional needs who's stories were shared as part of Respect Week the previous week.

Respect Week has had a hugely positive impact on the school who have a new found admiration and understanding for some of the challenges others are facing. There is a tolerance and respect for all and the empathy we hoped to ignite has been seen in several situations this week. One parent told me how much it has changed her perception of fairness and how she had talked to her child about equality versus equity.

On Tuesday class 4 presented their learning from DART to their parents as they graduated from the course. This teaches lessons for life as they get ready for secondary school about peer pressure and drug and alcohol awareness.

Today class 1 are at the seaside! Staff have been very jealous when photos came through of a fish and chip lunch and sand castles on the beach. We can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow.

    * We didn't take any photos of the concert as staff were too engrossed in the performances. If anyone has any, could you please email them to head@langar.notts.sch.uk *
