  • Carols Round the Tree

    Wed 21 Dec 2022

There was an amazing turn out for Carols Round the Tree this morning. The children who preformed were wonderful and parents and children filled the hall with joyful Christmas singing.

  • Travelling Nativity

    Wed 21 Dec 2022

Mary and Joseph are still on their journey around the families of Langar School and will be staying with some after Christmas before the wise men arrive.

We have had some lovely feedback about this and the children's engagement has been really high. Please take a look at the photos shared, and keep these coming if the Holy Family come to your house!

  • Attendance

    Wed 21 Dec 2022

As outlined in the newsletter, due to high levels of illness we have had exceptionally high figures of absence this term. The governor target for attendance is 97% and we were well below that this term at 89%.

Whilst we have absolute sympathy for the reasons for these absences, which have affected staff too, we feel it is important to draw your children's attendance to your attention so that you have a full picture of their education this term.

The letters are not sent with judgement and we encourage you to keep children who are unwell off school, however, it is imperative that you understand how extended periods of absence mean extended periods of missed learning.

All children who have had attendance below 90% attendance will receive a letter reporting their attendance this term. There are a number of children who's attendance falls below 70%.

To give some context, children had 67 days of learning in school this term.

If children have attendance of 90%, they have missed 7 days of school.

If children have attendance of 80%, they have missed 13 days of school.

If children have attendance of 70%, they have missed 20 days of school. The equivalent of four weeks.

If children have attendance of 60%, they have missed 27 days. Just over five weeks.

This figure does not include lateness, and we do have families who have persistent lateness, with some having missed the equivalent of one or two full days once the odd ten/fifteen minutes of lateness are added up. Again - this is not stated with judgement of your personal family circumstances, but for your child's welfare and to remind you that they should have access to the full education that they are entitled to.

If there are any barriers that are preventing your child being in school on time, please speak to their teachers, or Mrs George, the Pastoral Lead.

  • Carol Service

    Mon 19 Dec 2022

It was such a joy to see the church so full on Friday for the carol service. The Faith and Values Leaders and the House Captains did a wonderful job of leading the service and guiding us through the Christmas story.

  • Carols Round the Tree

    Mon 19 Dec 2022

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Carols Round the Tree on Wednesday morning. Although the event will start at around 9.25, you will be permitted to enter the hall where some of our Friends of LPS will be serving hot drinks and Christmas refreshments. These will be around £1/2 each so try to bring the correct change.

To cut back on waste, please need to bring your own mug!

Remember to get your raffle tickets this week, as the raffle will be drawn at the end of the performance.

There are a mixture of songs to sing along to as well as performances by our talented musicians. The whole thing will probably last about an hour.

  • Nativity

    Tue 13 Dec 2022

Classes 1 and 2 treated us to a wonderful performance of the nativity this morning. It was fantastic to see so many parents there, however we know that you will not want to miss out if you weren’t able to make it. We will be aiming to film the performance next week, when more children return from being poorly.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy these photos.

    Mon 12 Dec 2022

The children have rehearsed the nativity today for the final time and are ready for you, their audience tomorrow. We still have a high number of children off poorly, and so will not film tomorrow, but wait until they are all back.

In order for us to get the children changed and ready, and the hall set up with chairs the nativity will start at 9.30am.

  • Friends of Langar Primary School - Raffle Tickets

    Mon 12 Dec 2022

The Friends will be on the playground Tuesday morning and after school, and each day there after, selling raffle tickets. There are two hampers to be won that both have some fantastic prizes in them! The raffle will be drawn during Carols Round the Tree on Wednesday 21st December.

Tickets will be 50p each or £2 for a strip of 5. Please try to bring the correct money as they will have limited change.
