  • End of Term and Leavers' Service

    Fri 23 Jul 2021

After the most tumultuous year, we have enjoyed the calmest of year ends! The children have remained settled and focussed , with staff providing quality education right to the very end.

Year 6 had a fantastic send off today, with a meaningful and intimate Leavers' Service, surrounded by those  who know and love them, followed by a picnic on the field. This was a lovely opportunity for parents to get together to mark the end of an era too.

  • Leavers' Service and Picnic

    Mon 19 Jul 2021

We are really looking forward to our Leavers' Service on Friday which is for year 6 and their invited adults. The service will be held in church and starts at 2.00pm. There is capacity in church for each child to invite two adults.

Although the government has publicised today as 'Freedom Day', as a school we are moving slowly and cautiously out of the arrangements we have in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Church are taking the same stance. We are therefore asking you to follow certain measures if you attend.

    • Each child can have two adults at the service
    • Sanitise hands on arrival at church and put on a face covering
    • Sit in the seats provided which are set out in pairs and spaced from other pairs
    • Arrive five to ten minutes before the children arrive at 2.00pm and be seated on their arrival
    • Remain seated throughout the service and until children exit the building at the end - you can then gather with your child outside in the church grounds

After the service, we will take the children back to school and allow them time to sign each others shirts. During this time, you are invited to follow us back and set up your picnics on the field. Once you are ready we will bring the children out to you. Once school ends, siblings and staff will also join you.

There are no limits to the number of people you have your picnics, as we are viewing this as your private gathering hosted on school grounds.

  • Changes to Contact Tracing in Schools

    Fri 16 Jul 2021

From 19th July education and childcare setting will no longer be asked to conduct routine contact tracing. This means that school is no longer responsible for the decision making around which children are affected by a positive Covid-19 case.

At present, a positive case in a bubble means that the whole class is then sent home to isolate for 10 days. Almost every local school currently has one or more year groups at home in this position. The government are trying to lessen the impact that a positive case has on the rest of the children in the bubble.

From Monday 19th July, rather than a parent notifying school of their child's positive result and then the school isolating the whole bubble; the parents will notify school to report their child's absence, and then inform and work with Test and Trace to identify close contacts of the child, who will then let those contacts know directly of the need to isolate. You can read full details of the process in this letter: Letters | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)

Although this is a step forward out of the disruption that positive test results have caused, I do feel that this may also cause some anxiety for parents and staff. Rest assured, we continue to follow our risk assessment and plan to the letter and sincerely hope we make it through the final week with a clean bill of health and all children still in school.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Please ensure you adhere to the structures and processes we have put in place to keep your children safe and well. If you have any queries about the new approach, please get in touch with NHS Test and Trace.

  • School Site Safety

    Fri 16 Jul 2021

As we enter into the final week of the year, routines can begin to relax. We appeal to you to show the same level of thought, respect and care as you have done all year. We saw some potentially dangerous situations yesterday as children and parents were exiting the school site.

Many children were seen unsupervised and out of sight of parents on and near class 2 equipment, in flower beds and in the orchard.  A clear pathway is provided for you and your children to walk around the school building - this does not go up and around the planter outside of class 1, behind the music room or up through the orchard. Please ensure your children stick to these pathways. Hours of work has gone into developing the school grounds which is now getting broken and trampled by your children after school.

A number of children make their way round to the car park and remain there unaccompanied until their parents follow them round. I have seen these children running and hiding in amongst parked cars.  Although the likelihood is that staff cars will remain in the bays until long after children have left the site, we have deliveries arriving at all hours of the day.

To prevent a fatal accident - please ensure you are accompanying your child at all times following collection and keeping to the paths to exit. You must have full sight of your children and control of them as you move through the school site.

  • Free Desk

    Wed 14 Jul 2021

We have a spare desk which is free for anyone willing to collect it. Please ring the office if you would like it.

  • Monday Plans

    Fri 09 Jul 2021

Although I am obviously full of hope and optimism, I would like to extend the invitation to wear red and white whatever the outcome of the match! The achievement of getting to the final should be celebrated after 55 years of 'hurt'!

Just a reminder that the registers will close at 9.30am on Monday to allow families that need it a slower start to the day. However, all staff will be on site from normal time so parents wishing to stick to usual timings are most welcome to.

    Enjoy the weekend!
