  • Radio Star 🤩

    Fri 29 May 2020

I had the pleasure of talking on BBC Radio Nottingham this morning about all the things we are doing to ready the school for welcoming the children. Today has been such a struggle as we have had to pause these plans. However on Monday the whole staff team will be in school preparing the site for the children’s return. We cannot wait to see our school full of learning, joy and love once more.

  • Latest Government Announcement

    Mon 11 May 2020

I’m sure after the Prime Ministers statement last night you are left with many questions. As school staff and leaders, we too have lots of questions that need clarification.

For the moment there is no change to the guidance we are following and have done since 20th March. We will provide care for those parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response and only for those that can not be safely cared for at home. The message is still it is safer to stay at home.

We have not received any information to support us with the phased reopening for some year groups. We expect we will receive further information from the DFE shortly, with hopefully some clarification. We will need clear guidance to plan how it is possible to social distance in schools, ensure home learning continues for those not at school and most importantly keep our children, teachers and families safe.

Please be assured that we will keep you informed, but until we have a firm proposal of how and when, try not to worry.

For now, we will continue to provide activities for learning at home, keep contact with you, our families, and continue to support each other in these very difficult and uncertain times.

  • Let’s Celebrate!

    Thu 07 May 2020

You may not realise it, but not every school is like Langar! The Local Authority and Diocese have recognised this in the past and asked us to share good practice with other schools. This has mainly centred around our curriculum approach - teaching the whole child through our school trinity model.

This week I was contacted by Liz Kitts, Education Improvement Advisor at the LA, praising us for our website and in particular the Parent Support page. The presence of this on a school website is not common practice and she wanted to promote the use of the materials we’ve shared and provided with other schools in the authority. I was asked to write a short article about what we have put together on the Parent Support page to be published in the Hands Up Nottinghamshire magazine.

I am thrilled to share this with you and proud to say that other head teachers have been in touch asking if they can use resources and ideas from there. I do hope you find the pages useful as it is you that we have created them for.

  • Brand New Look!

    Thu 07 May 2020

Whilst the school building is empty of children, Mr Fothergill is busy cleaning, tidying, painting and decorating so it is lovely and fresh for when we return.

The children’s toilets have all have a facelift with vibrant colours chosen by Mrs Petchell and Mrs Richardson and now  look welcoming and like new! The carpets and floors were all cleaned by SJS Professional Carpet Cleaners and look and smell so clean. He has painted and treated the wooden climbing frame outside class 2 to give it a new lease of life.  And finally Mrs Petchell has painted the sheds and benches outside which has made it look like we’ve had new equipment delivered!

What a wonderful job they’ve done. We know you will love it when you come back.
