Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have received a couple of enquiries this morning about the Toot Hill transition day on Tuesday 5th July.
All the information you need about the day, including transport, have already been shared with you via the Toot Hill transition portal, and as with the other secondary schools we are feeding into, we have no part in the organisation or logistics of their transition events.
You will find the information they have shared with you here: Year 6 Transition Portal 2022 | Toot Hill School
If you have further queries, please contact the secondary school that your child is going to in September.
Brownies is another wonderful club that is on offer in the village. They are holding an open evening on Tuesday 5th July, to raise funds and for you to find out a little bit more about them.
The staff and children were shocked and shaken by an accident on the trim trail yesterday afternoon. Whilst playing a chasing game, a child hit their head on a plastic central bracket on the cross ropes which resulted in first aid being administered by Mr Owen-Jones, one of our paediatric first-aiders and seven stitches at the hospital.
These incidents are never taken lightly and as a staff we have looked at the hazards and considered whether the risk could be mitigated in future.
The equipment is designed for children over the age of 5 years old, who can explore, climb and balance. It has a soft play surface surrounding every piece of equipment. Children are permitted to use the equipment during breaktimes when they are closely supervised. We do not feel there is anything else we can do to the equipment to make it safer. But we will do anything within our power to ensure the playground is a safe space to be and this has led us to reflect on the safety of the playground before and after school.
I have asked you before, but appeal to you again:
I never relish having to outline rules, but having experienced such an incident yesterday, it highlights the reality of why health and safety measures should be adhered to.

Toot Hill are hosting an open evening for parents of children in years 4 and 5 on Wednesday 22nd June between 5.30pm and 6.30-pm. The event will be held in the school hall.
Letters have been sent out in book bags and we ask you to send in your reply slips to indicate your attendance.
It has been brought to my attention that some parents have been discussing reinstating the PTA. However, since 2019, following an ill attended AGM, a natural evolution of the PTA took place and we formed the Friends of Langar Church of England Primary School. Although you may be unaware, following two and a half years of few whole school and fundraising events, as a parent, carer or family member you are automatically a member this group.
Over the coming six final weeks of this academic year staff will begin planning events for the following academic year, to enable opportunities to enrich the wider life of the school, raise funds and bring together members of our community. Up to now these events, such as The Bunny Hop Disco, have been organised and manned primarily by school staff. For such events next year, we will call on your help and expertise for each of these as necessary.
We welcome any thoughts and suggestions you have for fundraising ideas. Should anyone be interested in holding a specific event, please email office@langar.notts.sch.uk, as we will consider the feasibility and then discuss it with you.
We do hope you will relish in the opportunity to get involved and provide our children with exciting and fun experiences whilst raising much needed funds for the school.
I look forward to working with you all over the coming year.
To commemorate the Platinum Jubilee year, the children have all contributed their portrait (complete with crown!) to a tea towel. These make a wonderful keepsake, and are of fantastic quality and size making them useful too! I will display one this evening on the playground for you to see.
These will be on sale via Squid for £5 each. There are 125 tea towels available. Therefore, we will be limiting the purchase to two per family at the moment. If we have any left over, we will let you know. Once a tea towel is paid for, I will send it out with your child.
Thank you for entrusting your children into our care for the residential trip! It is always a momentous occasion seeing them off for their first time away with school. A huge thank you to Mr Zisaruk-Gibson,Mrs George and Mrs Lark; without their preparation, commitment, energy , time and enthusiasm it would not be possible to give your children these experiences.
Having had an action packed two days and very little sleep; staff and children returned a little jaded today. Therefore, if your child needs a lie in tomorrow or a slow start to the day I will make an allowance and authorise a late mark provided they are in school by 10.30. This takes into account the much longer days of learning that they have experienced this week!
