  • Staff PPA Changes

    Mon 30 Jan 2023

Teachers have one afternoon a week to carry out their planning, preparation and assessment. This is PPA time. Children have French, music, PE and PSHE lessons during this time.

For the next two weeks, the days of staff PPA have changed, resulting in some children needing to come in PE kits on different days. This will swap back to as it is now after half term.

Tuesday will be PE for class 2 and 4

Wednesday will be PE for class 1 and 3

Their second PE session of the week will remain as it is now.

We have enjoyed a jam packed celebration worship this afternoon and children have been picked at random from our new values raffle tickets. This has caused much excitement and children are proud to use the stationary that have got as a reward.

  • Year 6 Revision Books

    Thu 19 Jan 2023

Learning throughout primary school is a journey and we carefully design our curriculum here to ensure children build on their knowledge and skills each year. We assess children regularly to check understanding and adapt planning to correct misconceptions and fill gaps in learning.

At the end of each key stage, children are assessed and a summary made about their attainment against other children of the same age in the country. These tests measure knowledge and understanding in the core subjects; reading, writing, maths, grammar/punctuation and spelling. This year SATS take place week beginning 8th May.

We continue our rounded and broad curriculum in year 6 and, although we prepare children with test techniques, do not prime or boost them for the tests they will undertake. However, some of the content in the test is from years 3, 4 and 5 and so we do support them to do revision of topics that will be covered.

You can help them with this. We have CGP revision guides and work books for them to do as homework. The revision guides will be on loan to you but the workbooks are for your children to keep. Therefore, we ask for a contribution of £5 for them. This is payable via Squid.

  • CANCELLED - Table Top Sale

    Wed 18 Jan 2023

Due to a lack of interest, the table top sale will not go ahead next Friday.

A number of Friends have mentioned wanting to organise a summer fayre. If you would like to be involved in this, please drop an email to office@langar.notts.sch.uk and we will instigate a working party.

  • Fire Drill

    Tue 17 Jan 2023

We carried out a fire drill this afternoon. The children were sensible and calm as they exited the building and lined up safely on the field.

The exit from school to the assembly point took 3 minutes and 33 seconds!

  • Table Top Sale

    Mon 16 Jan 2023

We haven't had any expressions of interest from anyone wishing to rent a table at the table top sale next Friday.  If this is  not an event that parents would like to engage with then we will cancel.

If you would like to rent a table then please email office@langar.notts.sch.uk as soon as possible so that we can set the offer up on SQuid. If we haven't had interest by the end of the school day tomorrow then we will cancel the event.

  • Achievements and Awards Assembly

    Wed 11 Jan 2023

Friday 13th January is our Achievements and Awards Assembly. This will take place at 9.00am to ensure we can accommodate all children who would like to share their achievements. Parents are welcome to come straight round to the hall after dropping off their children.

If we have any Friends who are willing, it would be lovely to be able to offer tea or coffee whilst parents are waiting.

Children are invited to bring in ONE achievement (medal, certificate, award, accolade etc) that they have gained recently to share with the rest of the school. Please send these in on Thursday so that we can collate them, ready for the assembly. If your child wears a special uniform or outfit for their hobby then they are welcome to wear it to school, bringing their uniform to change into after the assembly.

We are really looking forward to hearing about the talents and skills we have here at Langar.

  • Reverse Advent Calendar

    Tue 10 Jan 2023

Thank you for your incredibly generous donations for The Friary. The children love supporting worthwhile causes and are always highly engaged with our work for The Friary as they have first hand accounts of seeing the homeless in Nottingham. The items we collected were taken today and Rob expressed his gratitude to you all.

  • Spring Clean Table Top Sale

    Mon 09 Jan 2023

We are planning on hosting a table top sale on Friday 27th January.  This is a great opportunity to sell your unwanted items or grab a bargain!

Tables will be available in the hall for you to come and set up from 2.15pm and then to browse and buy from 2.45pm (giving you the opportunity to enjoy the event before collecting your children and then again with them after school if you wish) . Entry to the table top sale will be via the main office entrance. The event will end at 4.30pm.

We would welcome a team of Friends to serve refreshments if possible. Please email the office if you are a willing volunteer.

You can rent a table for £5 and then sell anything they like on it and keep the profits! You can sell second hand items, crafts, handmade products or, if you have a small business; your wares!

If you would like a table please email office@langar.notts.sch.uk to express your interest. Once we have secured enough interest we will set up the offer for payment on SQuid.

£5 needs to be paid via Squid in order for you to book your table. Should you want a second table, for example for a family member, you are most welcome but we ask you to pay for theirs on Squid to and ask them to pay you, as we cannot accept cash or cheques.

In order for us to plan and prepare we would like all payments for tables made by Friday 20th January.
