Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
It is World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March. We are using the day to 'share a book' and have lots of activities planned in school to promote this.
We would like to invite children to bring in an object or accessory that gives a clue about their favourite book! Please send the book in with your child if possible so that they can share it when we 'drop everything and read' throughout the day.
We had a lovely service for Ash Wednesday this afternoon which gave children the opportunity to reflect on the temptations and distractions that keep them from the ‘right path’. Rev. John Chambers talked to them about the significance of the ashes and invited children to be ‘ashed’.
As I know some of you are aware, we currently have no hot water in school as our boiler is broken and awaiting the engineer. Having consulted with Notts Health and Safety, we are still safe to be open as we have running water and soap for handwashing. However, it does affect school dinners as we have no hot water to wash up and - as bad luck would have it - the dishwasher has decided to break too! Catering Services have provided us with sandwiches, crisps and pudding for all children who are down for school dinners. This is just a temporary situation and we hope it will be rectified and back to normal asap.
Class 3 did a wonderful presentation of their work this afternoon. It was well attended and parents then heard about the year 4 multiplication check.
The parents of children in class 3 are welcome to come to their sharing assembly at 2.30 tomorrow. This is a lovely opportunity for them to present their work to you and for you to see the learning they have been doing.
After the assembly, which is likely to last half an hour, the children will be taken back to class. Mrs Nicholson is then going to give a little presentation about the Year 4 Multiplication Check. This will be useful for all the parents as year 3 will undertake it next year.

After the talk, you will be able to go onto the playground to collect your children.
Please see the poster for Spot on Cooking over February half term.
It was great to see parents at the workshops we hosted yesterday. Two topics were covered - teaching children to keep themselves safe with the PANTS rule and how to ensure children are kept safe when online.
The parents who attended said the information was really useful and gave them a new awareness of threats to children and what they can do about it. We do have some booklets about PANTS for parents who were unable to attend. Just ask in the office if you would like one (there aren't enough for us to hand them out to everyone). Or you can find lots of information on the NSPCC website.

If you have any concerns about your child's safety, please speak to their teacher, one of our DSLs or to Mrs George as Pastoral Lead.
Raising a child in the modern world can feel daunting and full of possible dangers. With reports in the news of children being groomed online and connecting with strangers through online games and platforms, parents need to be fully informed of what can be done about it.
Next week is National Online Safety week, and whilst the children will be covering this in school, will follow up links and activities sent out for home learning, we thought you may appreciate being armed with information too.
We have invited the NSPCC to come and give talks on two of their initiatives which you will find supportive. These will take place on Monday 6th February in the school hall - Talk PANTS 2:40-3:10 and Online Safety 3:20-4:20
The workshops are not suitable for children, and so, if your child is not at tennis or Out of School Club, whilst the online safety workshop takes place, we will have children in a classroom to watch a CBBC programme.

We will provide tea and coffee during the sessions for a small donation which will go towards School Fund.
