Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 5 were lucky enough to take part in an art workshop last Thursday with Mrs Gray from Toot Hill. They had a wonderful time, learning new techniques and being really creative.
Take a look at the outcomes!
It’s Children’s Health Week from 7th – 13th February which is so important, but here at Langar Primary we wanted to extended this initiative a little further and introduce a Mindful Mondays after school club with Mrs George.
The club will commence from Monday 21st February 2022 between 3.20 – 4.30pm and will run every Monday with the last session on Monday 28th March 2022. If there is a demand for this club we will look at continuing it after Easter.
At Mindful Mondays we will do a variety of activities which will change each week from Yoga, creating and decorating mandalas through to mindful eating and even maybe a boogie!
The club numbers can be no more than 10 children and places are available to children from Reception through to Year 6. Should more than 10 children be interested then the children’s name will have to go into a “hat”. If your child does get a place we would ask that they commit to all sessions.
If you would like to apply for a place please ensure you make contact with Mrs George, via email to the office by Friday, 4th February 2022.
Watch out for us on Look North tonight! They came to talk to us about the high number of Covid absences in schools at the moment and to find out how that has affected children and staff.
The programme will be on at 6.30pm or on I-Player after that time BBC One - Look North (Yorkshire)
A new season of Forest Bugs is starting on Thursday 24th February for six weeks. Sessions take place in Langar Hall woods and last 2 hours. Forest Bugs is run by Ashleigh Drew.
You can find more information, as well as the sign up form, in the clubs section of our website.
An enormous and heart felt 'thank you' and 'well done' to everyone in our school family this week. What a challenge it has been, but as usual staff have provided stability and positivity, parents have shown care and understanding and the children have remained focussed and happy. You have all played your part.
We have ended the week with two staff, and 32 children absent with Covid! I am pleased to tell you that parents have reported children showing few symptoms, with some having headaches, sore throats, runny noses and upset tummies but the majority having no symptoms at all but a positive LFT.
We are really missing our absentees, and hope to welcome them back soon.
In line with the guidance we are happy to have them back following negative LFTs on days 5 and 6 (counting the day of the initial positive LFT as day 0). Can I please request that you email on day 5 if they have had a negative result so that we know process has been followed. Many schools are asking for evidence of the negative result, which I do not think is necessary, but it is a little unnerving to see a child return to school before the 10 days is up and not know if the legal procedure has been followed.
I have attached the children's work we have celebrated this afternoon in Collective Worship and Hot Chocolate Friday; Max, Scarlett, Jacob, Bea, Xavier, Esme and Lilly. You should be very proud of their resilience and commitment to learning.
We are absolutely thrilled to present your fundraising certificate to announce the wonderful amount your children have raised through the Tuk Tuk Smarties fundraiser.
Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, we’re sure operation ‘Rosie May Christmas Magic’ was well and truly successful!
Wishing you and your team a happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you all again.
Very best wishes, from myself and the Rosie May Team :)
Best wishes,
Emma Clarkson

Thank you to all who attend these events, especially for the way in which you followed our guidance for doing so safely. We hope you enjoyed coming into school and seeing your children's work.
I am sorry to those of you who missed out because of Covid. These are still disrupted and frustrating times. We will do our best to ensure you also get to see your children's work. I will let you know, once this wave at school has settled down, how we can do that.
Please provide us with feedback on our reporting system. We have really expanded these arrangements this year to give you a more detailed insight into your child's progress and really want to know if the snapshot report, followed by the parent/ teacher meeting and then finally seeing the children's work achieves this.
Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful residential at The Mill in Mansfield earlier this academic year. The Mill are running activities over February half term which I would like to share with you.

As you aware, we use White Rose planning and resources as part of our mastery approach to the teaching of maths. White Rose have just launched the one minute maths app to support learners at home and refine their maths skills.
Please encourage your children to use it daily. You’ll find it on the App Store.
The new Covid isolation rules are a little confusing as the 5 day headline is misleading! Please refer to the which makes it easier to understand.
