  • Class 2

    Wed 31 Mar 2021

I am delighted to be able to share with you that Mrs Turner will be returning to teach class 2 after the Easter holidays. The children and parents of class 2 have welcomed her back this morning  and she will spend some time with them over the coming two days before she returns to her usual role.

It is lovely to know our staff team will all be back together again after two prolonged absences.

I wish to thank Mrs Nicholson for her expertise, enthusiasm and positivity that has ensured high quality education  for class 2 - both whilst in school and in lockdown. This has provided the perfect stability for the children and she will resume her job-share with Mrs Turner after Easter.

  • Mrs Browns’ Holiday House Challenge

    Fri 26 Mar 2021

Our four house groups are named after incredible men and women who did all sorts of things to make the world a better place. Over the course of the past two terms we have learned more about Corrie Ten Boom, George Cadbury, Catherine Booth and William Wilberforce during our Friday assemblies, as well as others such as Florence Nightingale and Harriet Tubman. These inspirational people were inspired by their faith and their desire to live in the way that Jesus taught.

If you would like to find out more about them then please follow this link and click each of the values - Values | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)

There are many people in the modern world who are trying to make a difference today. In collective worship today we talked about three of these – Max Woosey who, at 10 years old, has slept in a tent in his garden for a whole year to raise money for his local hospice, Marcus Rashford who has fought and campaigned for fairness for all children and ensured Free School meal children were provided for during the school holidays throughout lockdown and Captain Sir Tom Moore who raised money for the NHS by walking laps of his garden.

But making a difference isn’t always about raising money. Over the Easter holidays, I would like the children to think about someone inspirational. Someone who makes a difference in the world today.  They then need to research this person and present their findings to hand in after the holiday. These will be submitted to the house captains who will then create posters to add to the house displays in the hall.

I do hope all children will take part.

These sessions are open to all children and are lots of fun. The children explore new songs, learn harmonies, sing solos and build their confidence through singing.

  • School Lunches

    Mon 22 Mar 2021

We have a very high uptake of school lunches here at Langar, which is no surprise when you see the good portion sizes and high quality food that Mrs Selby and Mrs Daws provide!

We have always asked that parents commit for a full half term to either school lunches or packed lunches, so now is the time to let Mrs Whelan know should you wish your child to change.

The cost of a school lunch is increasing from Monday 19th April 2021 to £2.35.

Please remember that all meals must be paid for in advance via your SQuid account. We are currently carrying over £100 of debt in unpaid meal charges. Please check your account and ensure it is in credit.

  • New School Security

    Thu 18 Mar 2021

I am sure you have seen that we have had a new security system installed on our front main gate and disabled-access side gate. This system will enhance security of the school site, meaning it can remain locked at all times until our staggered drop off and collection times.

Access to pre-school will be via the main front gate in future, ensuring they have a clear visual on who is coming on and off site and that the side gate (apart from whilst our one way system is in place) is for disabled access only.

The front gate is fitted with a buzzer and video system so that visitors and parents for pre-school and the out of school club can be let in and out. Parents dropping off for breakfast club should also enter the site this way as should parents who are collecting in the evening. After 5.30pm, however, there may not be a member of staff in the pre-school end of the building to buzz you through, so parents collecting after this time will need to come into the main school entrance by eth office and ring for attention.

The disabled gate is accessed with a fob system. Families who access the school this way will be issued with their own fob that can be used between allotted drop off and collection times.

    Letters | Langar C of E Primary School (secure-primarysite.net)

Your child will be sent home with two answer sheets tonight. You are welcome to give one of the sheets to someone who does not attend our school or have two entries for members of your family. If you would like further answer sheets then I can supply them.

Please return your completed quiz sheet in a clearly marked envelope along with the £2 entry fee.  Every entry will receive a small prize and correct quiz sheets will be entered into a draw for the hamper which will take place on Thursday 1st April.

  • Class 3

    Wed 17 Mar 2021

I am delighted to be able to share with you that Mr Zisaruk-Gibson will be returning to school on Monday. The children in class 3 have welcomed him in this afternoon and he will spend some time with them over the coming two days before he returns to the role full time. He has been greatly missed and we are all really pleased to see him back where he belongs in our Langar family.

I wish to thank Mrs Mills for the wonderful stability, continuity and high quality education she has provided for class 3 - both whilst in school and in lockdown. I know she will really miss this class based role but will but the children in year 1 will benefit once more from her expertise as Reading Recovery Teacher and phonics lead.
