  • Timings

    Mon 08 Mar 2021

I need to put out a reminder about time keeping as we had a high number of parents and children congregating at the gate this morning. There were also number of children left waiting to be collected this evening at 3.30. This is unacceptable as this eats in to the time that staff have to plan and prepare for the following day.

Please adhere to the time slot you have been allocated, collect your children from outside classroom doors and leave the site promptly. In doing so you are supporting us and the plans we have created to mitigate to spread of the virus, and in turn, resume life beyond lockdown.

    Start of Day

    8.40AM Group 1 Surnames – A to J inclusive

    8.45AM Group 2 – Surnames K to P inclusive

    8.50AM Group 3 – Surnames R to W

    End of Day

    3.10PM Group 1 Surnames – A to J inclusive

    3.15PM Group 2 – Surnames K to P inclusive

    3.20PM Group 3 – Surnames R to W

If you struggle with these timings, then please consider booking your children into Out of School Club by contacting Emma or Donna on 01949 862995.

  • Welcome Back!

    Mon 08 Mar 2021

We have had an incredible day welcoming the children back to school. They have returned well-prepared, calm, smart and ready for learning. They are a true credit to you all.

The children were amazed to be welcomed back by a teddy for each of them! These are a keepsake to remind the children of this unique year they have had and the heroic part they have played in preventing the spread of the virus.

The staff also received a surprise today! The Pink Tuk Tuk, from the Rosie May Foundation brought cupcakes as a thank you for all the staff have done throughout lockdown. We were so touched that Phil and Mary had reached out in this way and their gratitude really moved us.

We enjoyed finding out about the work the Foundation do and the impact they have on lives across the world. We look forward to finding out more about the charity and working with them in the future.

  • Barnstone Park

    Thu 04 Mar 2021

I have received an update from Stephanie Walker about the developments at Barnstone Play Park. Phase 1 has been completed and phase 2 is about to begin as soon as funds have been secured or raised.

    Steph said,

" The cost of Phase 2 is £7494.00 we have managed to raise as of today £4568.00. Amount outstanding £2926.00.

If we can purchase this before the end of the Financial year, the ESP costs remain the same but will increase on 1st April 2021. We have applied for a small lottery loan to cover phase 3, but that won’t come in time to help with phase 2! (assuming we get it).

We are getting close, just not quite there yet, we had set up a just giving page (although this had only suggested we needed £200) !"

If you feel you can make a contribution, every little helps. If you know of an innovative or effective way to fundraise for this then please get in touch with Stephanie Walker or the Parish Council.

  • Further Information on Lateral Flow Testing

    Tue 02 Mar 2021

I have found further information on the government initiative to supply LFTs for families and support bubbles of school aged children.

Members of households, childcare or support bubbles of school staff and pupils

This section does not apply to secondary school pupils, and primary and secondary school staff, who should take twice-weekly tests using home test kits provided by their school.

From 1 March 2021, if you’re a member of a household, childcare bubble or support bubble of staff or a pupil you can get a twice-weekly test:

    • through your employer if they offer testing to employees
    • at a local test site
    • by collecting a home test kit from a test site
    • by ordering a home test kit online
    •

Get a test through your employer

Your workplace may offer rapid lateral flow testing to you. Contact your employer to find out more.

Take a test at a rapid lateral flow test site

You can take a rapid lateral flow test at a local site. Testing at these sites is assisted, which means you will swab yourself under the supervision of a trained operator.

You may need to book an appointment.

Find your nearest rapid lateral flow test site

This information is in the public domain and has not been sent specifically to schools. It has been taken from: Rapid lateral flow testing for households and bubbles of school pupils and staff - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

  • Nottinghamshire County Council Holiday Dates Consultation

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

Nottinghamshire County Council is currently consulting on proposed school term and holiday dates for the periods from 2023/2024 until 2026/2027 for community and voluntary controlled schools.  The consultation is now open and runs between 1 March 2021 and 2 May 2021.

Please can you consider the consultation and share the information about the consultation widely with parents.  NCC invites all consultees to complete the online survey using the link below.  This will allow us to consider the views of all consultees and ensure they are incorporated into the consultation feedback report which will be considered by Members at the Children and Young People’s Committee on 19 July 2021.

The Council is proposing two options:

    ·         Option A follows the current model, which includes 2 weeks for the October half term break, a fixed spring break (generally the first two weeks in April) and approximately 5 weeks for the summer holiday (Appendix 1).

    ·         Option B proposes 2 weeks for the October half term break, a varied spring break and slight changes to the start and end dates for the academic year (Appendix 2).

The consultation also invites free text additional comments.

Anyone can comment up to 2 May 2021 by:
